How did you get your start working in the Insurance industry?
I have always had a passion for helping people, and from a young age I have worked in customer service roles.
You could say that I “fell in” to the insurance industry, and it has been a great fit for me. After university and travelling, I moved to Ontario and began job hunting. I was fortunate enough to be invited to join RBC Insurance, where I got my start selling and servicing home and auto insurance clients. I have worked for multi-national broker organizations, for an insurer, and now I am thrilled to be bringing my industry knowledge and expertise to serve at the local level.
Why do you think Brokers are critical to this industry?
Brokers are critical to the industry, bridging many of the gaps that exist between clients and the Insurers themselves (Intact, Gore, Aviva, etc.)
Insurance brokers work for their clients, and ultimately serve as the first point of contact for insurers. Because RGI has relationships with many insuring partners, we have data for multiple insurance companies and as a result we are able to provide the best options to fit every client’s puzzle.
Where the rubber really hits the road, though, is in the event of a claim. When a problem arises, your RGI broker will engage with the insurer on your behalf. We will support you as you navigate the claims process, and advocate for you to ensure the insurer is providing the best possible experience they can with respect to timelines, payout, etc.
What can RGI do that others can't or won't do?
We are building and growing our business by developing customized group insurance programs that are unique to the wants and needs of the group members. At RGI, we go beyond “off the shelf” group plans by focusing on the coverages that your group members truly want and need.
We leverage our vast experience from the Insurance industry and from working with several large associations and unions, both local and national.
